Just What Has Changed in Marketing
for the 21st Century?
Marketing has changed. What used to work sometimes no longer works or makes no sense to pursue. Like it or not the world is changing and so is the way we do business.
One can now invest a whole lot of money in what used to work and find that it no longer brings in enough to pay for the insertion. One can take that money and put it in the new marketplace and get a much better return and maybe even spend less than it cost to do it the old way.
If you are not changing your thought patterns to be in line with the new marketplace you may be settingaround and wondering where all your customers have gone. They are moving on to this new marketplace in spite of you. It is a matter of economics. With gas prices as high as they are people are no longer just jumping in the car and going shopping. They are finding out who has what they want and/or need, how much it costs and when it is available before they even leave the house.
If they can't find you and what you have to offer they will just go to the business who has made themselves visible in this new marketplace and they will leave you behind. You must also take advantage of the new ways this new marketplace is evolving. You must answer the biggest question your clients and potential clients have to ask you; "What's in it for me?"
This sounds selfish, but it is the way it is today. If the answer to this question is not satisfactorily answered the client will go to the competitor who answers it best and you will lose out.
